Who we are
SPRED is a ministry of friendship. Its origins are in Chicago where it was set up in the 1960s. The notion of SPRED came to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Galloway in the late 1990s.
SPRED is faith based as members recognise that each one of us is on our own faith journey. Our aim is to provide faith formation opportunities that meet the needs of people in our community who have learning disabilities and/or special needs. As we journey together we nurture each other in our own faith.
Please be aware that, as expressed in our constitution, SPRED Galloway is open to all faiths and to none.

Our mission
At SPRED Galloway our primary mission is to promote our three core values:
FRIENDSHIP
Friendship, a meaningful, valued relationship with a person willing to share their life experiences.
INCLUSION
Inclusion within a small, mixed group of learning disabled people, ‘friends’, and volunteers from the local community.
BELONGING
Belonging to a local community where their particular gifts are reocgnised and their person respected.
